SINTEF has developed an innovative diaphragm lab-scale electrowinning flow cell that allows optimization and process developent under conditions closer to industrial environment. The cell has been used in WP3 to verify real Co sulfate solutions from spent Li ion batteries (produced by TECNALIA and KU LEUVEN), giving high purity Co metal and acceptable energy consumption.
