Meet our CROCODILE colleague: Zhangqi Wang (ACCUREC)

Zhangqi Wang works as engineer in research and development department of Accurec. Learn more about him who is interested in Li-ion battery recycling.

What are you working on?

I am working on the research and development of recycling process for End-of-Life Li-ion batteries. Hereby, I will try to improve the state-of-the-art Li-ion battery recycling process, making them more energy efficient, increasing recycling efficiency and reducing impurities in products.

What attracts you in the research project you are working on?

The electric mobility is the key to limit global warming. By joining European project, it really attracts me to see how the whole value chain (battery industry, automotive industry, raw material supply and recycling industry) react with this big topic. Also, as a recycler, how can we improve the current states for Europe and for the rest of the world.

Where do you work? What do you like about your organization or the city you live in?

 I work as research engineer at Accurec Recycling GmbH in Krefeld (Germany). Accurec is European leading company in battery recycling industry. At Accurec, I see how recycling technologies were developed step-by-step and how we achieve objectives in efficient way. The working atmosphere is perfect at Accurec so that I can balance well my work and life. As a foreigner in Germany, the support for personal life and work I receive from my colleagues is always more than I expected.

What characteristic do you most admire in others?

I admire a person who is always positive but being strict with regarding to work.

BIO

Zhangqi Wang joined Accurec Recycling GmbH in 2017 after he had graduated with a master’s degree in metallurgical engineering at RWTH Aachen and obtained Ph.D. on mechanical engineering at Ruhr University Bochum in Germany. Accurec Recycling GmbH is the leading battery recycling company in Europe. He started as junior assistant making progress on several EU funded projects in research and development department. After acquiring experience regarding both lithium-ion batteries and battery recycling, his activities expand in fields of quality management, recycling technology innovation, project management etc.
